Sustainable Agriculture for Future Economies (S.A.F.E.)

The goal for this grant-funded project was to dialogue with the farming communities in Mobile and Baldwin Counties to determine ways to preserve farmland and to find alternative means to sustain existing farms.
An Agricultural Fact Sheet was produced that spelled out the problems facing the two counties with regard to the stability of the farming community.
A survey was also compiled to determine how farmers and ranchers felt about the future of farming. The public was asked the same thing. The Survey Analysis showed that many factors were affecting the stability and sustainability of farms to make money which pushes farmers to see the sale of farmland as their best and highest use of the land at this point.
Very few felt there was a future for farming in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
